We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer to join our team in Melbourne on a full‑time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering complex infrastructure projects, supporting cutting‑edge technology solutions within the transport industry.
Your responsibilities:
Design the technical solutions for network and Data Centre infrastructure supporting Kapsch ITS solutions, liaising with Solution Centres and architects.
Implement IT infrastructure by working with vendors, installing applications, configuring systems and networks, and preparing technical reports.
Collaborate with Solution Centres on the integration of Kapsch ITS solutions and facilitate knowledge transfer to the APAC region.
Identify appropriate technologies and architectures in line with technical and security requirements.
Prepare and maintain design‑related documentation.
Advise, track, and report on installation, operational, and technical project matters, including defects or issues, both internally to management and externally to customers as required.
Troubleshoot issues related to new installations and production systems.
Provide guidance on system improvements, from conceptualization through implementation and operation.
Monitor or audit existing systems and recommend improvements.
Support Operations teams during the transition from project to operations, including training and ongoing support.
Create and execute application and system test procedures.
Prepare and update installation, operation, and system maintenance documentation.
Develop and deliver training materials, acting as a knowledge resource and mentor for engineers and technicians within the Delivery and Operations teams.
Support Sales teams during the conceptualization, estimation, and planning of new opportunities.
Maintain in‑depth knowledge of specific Kapsch solutions and related technical domains.
Maintain general knowledge of engineering standards, ensuring compliance with all applicable standards and procedures.
Travel as required and as directed by the Infrastructure SDM.
Customer Engagement and Sales Support
Support customer requirements while consistently representing the company’s best interests.
Proactively identify opportunities and provide feedback through appropriate internal channels (Line Manager, Sales, etc.).
Demonstrate initiative in identifying and scoping areas of opportunity.
Additional activities may be assigned as required, related to general technical and commercial support aligned with the employer’s business development activities within the ITS industry. The role will also be required to undertake duties as directed by the Project and Service Managers, Engineering Manager, and VP Delivery and Operations, as needed.
Your profile:
Degree qualified in a relevant Engineering discipling or equivalent.
Cisco CCNP or higher certification.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in the design, installation, testing and operation of Engineering solutions and its IT infrastructure and Data Centers (preferably in the ITS field).
Maintain an advanced understanding and
and hands‑on experience with Linux, Windows Server, Networking, Security, Storage, Virtualization, Cloud Environments and specific technical skills to deploy ITS solutions and IT Infrastructure.Ability to produce as-built documentation, diagrams (Visio, Draw.io)
Understanding of ISO 9001, ISO27001, or NIST Cybersecurity Frameworks
Experience supporting RFP/EOI responses, compliance matrices and design submissions
Current Australian full driver’s license.
